European aircraft maker Airbus has suffered its first operating loss of €572m in 2006, according to its parent group EADS.
EADS said the plane maker was expected to suffer further 'substantial' losses in 2007.
It said the losses at Airbus this year would stem from charges linked to its controversial restructuring programme, Power8, costs from the much-delayed A380 superjumbo plane, and launch costs for its mid-range A350 XWB.
EADS said that higher research and development costs and expectations of a weakening dollar against the euro would also undercut the company.
