Topaz Energy, the company which owns the Shell and Statoil retail businesses in Ireland, plans to reduce staff numbers by 30 through a voluntary redundancy scheme.
The company said it had briefed staff on the plans, which follow its acquisition of the Statoil businesses in October. Topaz said it was merging the Shell and Statoil businesses, and the lay-offs would address the resulting 'duplication of positions'.
Topaz is to offer eight weeks pay per year of service to staff who take up the offer.
