AIB is to increase its standard variable mortgage rate by a quarter of a point to 4.6% from the close of business on Wednesday. This follows the recent rise in euro zone rates announced by the European Central Bank.
Most of the bank's other variable and tracker rates will also go up by 0.25 points. Overdraft rates for personal and business customers increase by 0.25 and 0.1 points respectively.
On the deposit side, most of AIB's products will rise by 0.25 points.
Bank of Ireland also announced interest rate increases, to come into effect tomorrow.
BoI is to increase its standard variable mortgage rate by 0.2 points to 4.84% - which is slightly less than the recent ECB quarter of a percentage point interest rate increase.
However, most of the bank's other loan and deposit rates will go up by 0.25%.
