New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that the seasonally adjusted volume of industrial production for the three months from August to October fell by 2.5% on the previous three months.
Today's figures reveal that production for all industries in October 2006 was 6.1% higher than the same time last year, on an annual basis.
The modern sector, which is made up of a number of high-technology and chemical sectors, showed an annual increase in production in October of 5.2%, while a rise of 8% was reported in the traditional sector.
