Printer and copier firm Xerox is carrying out a review of its operations in Blanchardstown, Dublin as part of a continuous valuation of its business.

Xerox has 1,260 employees in Blanchardstown. It also has a plant in Dundalk, Co Louth and overall has a total Irish workforce of 1,717 .

Employees in Blanchardstown work mostly in marketing and sales and in the company's European Welcome Centre, which takes care of customer and technical support.

Xerox has had Irish operations since 1962.

'It is normal business practice for any company to evaluate, on a continuous basis, ways in which it can maximise efficiency and improve value to its customers,' Xerox said in a statement this afternoon.

It said that as part of this continuous evaluation, Xerox is reviewing some of its activities in Ballycoolin. It stressed that the Dundalk plant will be not affected by the review.

The company said the review - due to be finished in the first few months of 2007 - is in its early stages. 'It would be speculative and far too premature to comment now on its conclusions or any impact they may or may not have on our Ballycoolin operations,' the firm added.
