Italian state to sell 30.1% of Alitalia

The Italian state, owning 49.9% of the Alitalia airline, will sell at least 30.1% and a buyer must bid for the whole company, the Italian economy ministry said today.

The tender for the sale of shares held by the state will  probably be launched by the end of this year, the ministry said.

The tender would require commitments to provide services throughout Italy, and to maintain the national identity, insignia and brand of the airline, the ministry said.
