Denis O'Brien's Digicel Group has acquired the Guyanese mobile operator U Mobile through the acquisition of its parent holding company.
Digicel said the move enables it to expand its footprint into South America following the launch in French Guiana earlier this year.
With more than $1.2 billion invested in the Caribbean since 2001, Digicel now employs almost 2,500 in the region and has operations in 22 markets.
