The Competition Authority is to carry out a full investigation into State forestry company Coillte's acquisition of Weyerhaeuser Europe's facility in Clonmel. Both companies are involved in manufacturing wood products.

It said that it had been unable to reach such a conclusion after a preliminary, or Phase 1, investigation. The authority has until December 22 to make a final decision.
