Food group IAWS says a €180m investment in its speciality foods business Cuisine de France will generate 130 new jobs in Dublin.
A new centre of excellence is to be built at Grange Castle Business Park in Clondalkin. This will incorporate a research and development centre to develop new products, a customer visitor centre, a training academy and a manufacturing facility.
Enterprise Ireland is supporting the R&D and training elements of the investment.
IAWS said the centre, which has received planning approval, would include buildings totalling 42,600 square metres on a 23-acre site. The centre is due to be completed by 2008, and 100 jobs will be created during construction.
IAWS's Hugo Kane said the investment signalled the group's intention to stay at the forefront of the facility.
* The Government has approved investment assistance of €1.7m to Gal Ard Teoranta, a bakery and confectionery company which is based in Ard an Ratha, Co Donegal. This will bring the overall State investment in grants to the company to €4.8m. 90 new jobs will be added at the firm by 2010 as a result.
The funding will be provided by Údarás na Gaeltachta to help the company expand its general business and increase the production of frozen part-baked French-style bread for other European markets.
