Dublin-based McLoughlin & Sons Hardware has bought RS Sales for an undisclosed sum. The deal will create one of the country's largest independent distributors in the hardware, DIY, homewares and gardening sectors.
The new company will be called McLoughlins RS and will be based at McLoughlins headquarters in Finglas. It is predicted to have a turnover of €30m and will employ over 100 people.
Excluding building supplies, total sales for the gardening, DIY and homewares sectors are estimated at €600m a year.
