Exploration company Island Oil & Gas said the second well of its 2006 and 2007 drilling programmes offshore Ireland - Well 49/23-1 at the Old Head of Kinsale in the Celtic Sea - has been drilled to target depth. The company said it has encountered gas shows over a gross interval of 150 feet.
It is now preparing to log the well to further evaluate the gas shows.
The well is operated by Island and was drilled using the semi-submersible drilling unit, Petrolia. This is owned and operated by Petrolia Drilling Limited and is under contract to Island.
