British retail sales climbed in June from the previous month, according to the latest official data.
Retail sales rose by 0.9%last month from the May figure and by 3.7% compared with June 2005, according to the Office for National Statistics.
The numbers beat analysts' consensus forecasts of a 0.2% monthly increase and a 2.7% annual gain.
