Ryanair is to make significant reductions in its services to and from Sweden, blaming proposals for a new government tax.
The airline is to cancel its twice daily service from Stockholm-Vasteras to London-Luton. It will also reduce its Malmo-Sturup to Stansted service from twice daily to daily and its Gothenburg City Airport to Glasgow-Prestwick service from five weekly flights to three weekly flights. These moves will take effect from October 28.
Ryanair said the decision was due to proposals by the Swedish Government to introduce a new tax of 94 Swedish krone, which would effectively add a further 30% to the average cost of Ryanair's fares.
