WPP says first half revenue up 4.5%

The world's second-largest advertising company WPP Group said today that like-for-like revenues rose 4.5% in the first five months of the year.

The British group said that this continues the improvement in organic growth which began towards the end of 2004 and all regions except Britain showed double-digit growth.

Total revenues rose 17% year-on-year from January to May, or 13% if the effect of foreign exchange moves is stripped out.

WPP said that operating margins in the first five months were ahead of budget and in line with the group's full year margin objective of 14.5%, compared to 14% last year.
