Business support services group DCC said today that it had purchased 1.04 million shares, representing 1.29% of its issued share capital, at a total cost of €18.8m.
The shares, bought at €17.90 a share, will be held as treasury shares.
DCC has bought back a total of 10.2 million shares, or 11.61% of its current issued share capital, since July 2000 at an average price a share of €11.23 and at a total cost of €116.5m, including stamp duty and commission.
Analysts said the move should provide useful underpinning in the current volatile markets.
DCC shares closed ten cent higher at €18 in Dublin this evening.
