Seasonally adjusted figures from the Central Statistics Office figures show a sharp drop in industrial production for the latest three months.
The figure for February to April was down 5.3% compared with the previous three months. Production in April was up 10.8% on the same month last year, however.
The modern sector - which includes the technology and chemical sectors - was 12.2% higher in April, while the traditional sector was up 6.9%.
