Management body ends run of losses

The Irish Management Institute has reported a return to profitability last year, with an operating profit of €140,000.

The institute has recorded pre-tax losses for the previous two years. Turnover in 2005 was up 10% at €13.8m. The company reinvests any profits in research and programme development.

Costs for 2005 rose slightly to €13.6m, but income from conference and accommodation facilities rose by 22% to €1.2m.

Chief executive Tom McCarthy said the turnaround had come from designing better and more flexible courses for customers.
