Business services company Accenture says its dedicated business services centre in Parkwest Dublin 12 has lost its only client DHL.
Over the next nine to 12 months DHL will repatriate the European business services which up to now have been carried out by Accenture.
In Parkwest Accenture took care of outsourced finance and accounting services for DHL. 140 people are employed in the centre, and Accenture says all of these positions will be absorbed back into the company.
A spokesperson for Accenture said the nature of its relationship with DHL was changing. 'We provide service to DHL from Ireland to its other European businesses. Over the next nine to 12 months we will be transitioning some of those services back to their countries on a phased basis. We will then work to redeploy those staff back inside the wider Accenture group.'
Accenture employs 1,500 people in Ireland and 12,000 people in UK. Globally the firm is one of the biggest providers of management consulting and technology services.
In a statement this afternoon Accenture said that it had worked with its client Exel, which was recently taken over by DHL, for ten years and would continue to to support it in other operations around the world.
