Industrial production dip in first quarter

Central Statistics Office figures show that the seasonally adjusted volume of industrial production in the first three months of 2006 was down 0.9% compared with the previous three months.

For March alone, the volume of production was up 1.8% on the same month last year. The modern sector - including chemical and high-tech industries - was up 2%, while the traditional sector showed a 1.4% increase.
