Boeing trounces Airbus in order battle

Orders for Boeing planes have outnumbered those for Airbus planes by a ratio of more than  three-to-one since the start of the year, figures available on their company websites showed today.

Orders for Boeing aircraft totalled 325 at the end of April. This compared to 99 for Airbus. In April alone, Airbus booked only nine new orders whereas Boeing concluded deals for 175 new planes.

Since the start of the year, Airbus has failed to sell any  models of its superjumbo A380 model, which is set to enter service later this year with Singapore Airlines.

Airbus leads in terms of deliveries, however. It has delivered 142 planes since the start of the year compared with 126 for Boeing.
