BoI customers warned on e-mail

Bank of Ireland has issued a warning to its customers to ignore any e-mails they may have received from a source purporting to be Bank of Ireland or www.365online.com.

The bank says it has discovered that a number of customers and non-customers  have received e-mails recently directing them to a website posing as its personal banking online service, www.365online.com.

The e-mail directs the recipient to a website where they are asked to give personal banking information.

Bank of Ireland says it never requests customer information in this way and strongly warns customers to ignore the e-mails. 'Under no circumstance should anyone log on to this spurious site or enter any details,' it says.

The bank says none of its systems have been compromised and there has been no security breach of any Bank of Ireland website.
