A report published this morning has found that Ireland remains one of the leading countries in Europe in terms of entrepreneurship and is fast approaching the levels of early stage entrepreneurial activity prevalent in the United States.
The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor is a report that is produced every year to compare and contrast entrepreneural activity across 37 countries. The government sponsors the research through Enterprise Ireland and other agencies.
The 2005 report shows that just under 10% of Irish people are either starting or planning to start their own business compared to 7.4% last year. The research also indentified a significant gender gap with two and a half times as many men looking to set up their own business as women.
