Transport Minister Martin Cullen has named Cathal Guiomard as the new Commissioner for Aviation Regulation.
Mr Guiomard is currently the acting commissioner in the CAR, which regulates the aviation and travel trade sectors.
Its main functions are to regulate airport charges at Dublin Airport and aviation terminal service charges levied by the Irish Aviation Authority.
