Fingal County Council has granted planning permission for a new runway at Dublin Airport, which will run parallel to the existing main runway.
The Dublin Airport Authority said it needed the runway to expand the capacity at the airport. It was also seen as vital to the Authority's ten year development plan.
The council had received more than 800 objections to the plan from local residents. who are now planning to appeal this decision.
