Hewlett Packard's banking arm, HP Financial Services, is to centralise its European and Middle East operations at HP's existing European headquarters in Leixlip, Co Kildare.
The move, which is supported by IDA Ireland, will result in the creation of over 100 new jobs on top of the 260 jobs already in HP Financial Services.
The bank, which reported an after-tax profit of €50m last year, allows HP Financial Services to offer equipment financing to HP's European customers.
The company said that centralising its operations will allow HP Financial Services to maximise the use of its banking licence here. The decision to choose Ireland for the EMEA headquarters included the company's requirement for an educated and skilled professional workforce, commented Managing Director of Hewlett-Packard International Bank, Paul Sheeran.
'The experience of HP in Ireland, where we employ more than 4,000 people, gives us first hand knowledge of the quality of the people here, and that was certainly a key factor,' he said.
'Other influencing factors included support for the IDA, the highly respected regulatory environment, Ireland's favourable corporate tax regime and its excellent reputation as a base for financial services companies,' he added.
The jobs will be mostly for graduates, with financial, marketing, multilingual and customer relationship skills.
HP Financial Services has more than $8 billion in assets and 1,600 employees in 51 countries.
