The latest figures from the Central Statistics Office show that the numbers employed in the construction industry grew by 2.9% in December last year compared to the same month the previous year.
The CSO says that the monthly employment index rose from 99.6 in December 2004 to 102.5 in December 2005.
The annual increase in employment was 3.9% for November 2005.
