An Post CEO Donal Curtin has announced that he will leave An Post in July when his contract expires.
The Board will now undertake a recruitment campaign to appoint a successor. Mr Curtin said that when he took the job in July 2003, he had made it clear that he was confined to the fulfilment of his three year term of contract.
Commenting on his decision not to renew his contract in July Mr Curtin said :' my task as Chief Executive was to bring the company from crisis to stability. The implementation of the Recovery Strategy will be completed this summer and my job will have been done'.
An Post said in a statement today that Mr Curtin had taken over at a time when the company was heading towards a loss of €50m for 2003.
It said this loss was ultimately curtailed to €43m and An Post recorded an operating profit of €1.7m in 2004.
