ESB International has announced proposals to develop a new 800 megawatt power station in Spain.
The ESB says it has secured a site iin the Asturias region of northern Spain and must now get planning permission for what would be the company's second major power generation facility in Spain.
ESB's Amorebieta station near Bilbao has been in operation since last August. If the new station gets the go-ahead it is likely to cost around €500m to develop. If approved, construction will start in 2008.
