Building dip a drag on German output

Industrial output in Germany contracted slightly in November, weighed down by falling activity in the important manufacturing and construction sectors, data published by the German Economy and Technology Ministry showed today.

German industrial output slipped by 0.4% in November from October, after rising substantially the previous two months.

The main factor behind the decrease was a 1.2% drop in output in the key construction sector and a decline of 0.5% in the manufacturing sector. Energy output was higher, rising by 0.9%.
