The number of new cars licensed in November 2005 rose by 0.4% compared to the same time last year. The latest figures from the Central Statistics Office show that a total of 3,779 new cars were licensed in November 2005 while 3,763 were licensed the same time last year.
The CSO says that in January to November, a total of 164,239 new cars were licensed, up 11.2% from the same time the previous year.
First licensing of second hand private cares jumped by 55.9% on the same month last year, an increase of 1,355. It soared by 82.6%, or 15,844, in the year to date.
The figures also show that new goods vehicles licensed rose by 8.4% last month and increased by 23.9% in the months from January to November.
The most popular new private cars licensed in November were Toyota, followed by Volkswagen, Opel, Ford, Nissan and Renault.
