November new car sales fell 3.8% on the same month last year, according to figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry. But SIMI says sales for the year so far are up 11.5% to 171,131.
Chief executive Cyril McHugh again urged Finance Minister Brian Cowen to reduce VRT in Wednesday's Budget. He said the EU Commission had clearly pointed out that this tax was against the principles of the single market.
