Clothing retailer Primark, which owns Penneys, made operating profits of £140m in the year to September 17, a 30% increase on the same period a year earlier, according to its parent company Associated British Foods.
Sales rose by 17% to just over £1 billion, with an increase of 9% when the effect of new stores was stripped out.
Primark has more than 120 stores in Britain and Ireland.
Penneys opened new stores in Dundrum and Mullingar in the period and plans to open a new store in Dundalk in the current year.
