Irish investors snapping up oversees property

Property company Colliers Jackson-Stops has said Irish investors have spent more than $17m on overseas property with the company since the start of the year.

Earlier this year, Irish property investors splashed out more than $4m in just two days snapping up properties in The Meridian, a luxurious development in Las Vegas, while Colliers Jackson-Stops achieved record sales of $4.5 million for two developments in Thailand.

Traditional locations such as France, Italy, Spain and Portugal also remain popular with $10m in sales so far this year.

Eleanor Bourke, of Colliers Jackson-Stops expects an increase in interest in overseas properties next year with the maturing SSIA's, with Irish buyers becoming more astute in identifying emerging markets with potential.
