Property developer Sean Dunne has now purchased the 4.8 acre site currently housing the Jurys Ballsbridge and The Towers Hotels for €260m.
The two parties signed papers this evening after a week's delay while legal documents were being sorted out.
Last month Jurys Doyle shareholders EGM had approved the sale at an EGM.
Sean Dunne said on RTE radio this evening that the only way he would bid for Jurys is if the major shareholders invited him to pay them a price where they would be happy to leave, and that there was no sign of that.
He said he will be planning a high rise development on the Ballsbridge site and will be looking for international architects to link up with the Irish architect who will lead the project.
He said a standard two-bed apartment on the site would cost €1.2m at today's prices
He said he would be interested in acquiring the adjoining vetinary college building adjacent to the Ballsbridge site which goes up for sales next week, and also the Berkeley Court Hotel.
Sean Dunne said he is happy to be a shareholder in Jurys, especially on a day when €260m is coming in to the company.
Jurys shares closed down 2%, or 39 cent at 18.50 this evening in Dublin.
