Ryanair schedules - Boeing strike to hit delivery of new planes

Ryanair will have to modify its flight schedule for the months of September and October because of delays in the delivery of seven new planes which were due to be delivered in September and October.

These aircraft are now not expected to be delivered until November and December because Boeing, Ryanair's aircraft supplier, have experienced work stoppages since early this month. Ryanair said it now assumes that these work disruptions will continue until at least the end of next month.

The airline said that three of the 737-200 series aircraft which were due to be retired in September will now continue in service until the end of October.

The new base launches in Liverpool and Pisa, which are due to start on September 27 and October 10, will proceed as normal with the airline using a new 737-800 which was delivered by Boeing earlier this month, and also using one of the three spare 800s in October.

About 200 flights, or less than 1%, will be amalgamated during October and Ryanair said it expects that the financial impact of this will be 'immaterial in both the third quarter and in the full year results.'

Ryanair said it will continue to liaise closing with Boeing as the row continues. It said that if the row continues into November, Ryanair will make an early decision and ensure that all passengers are notified of any schedule changes during the first week of October.
