British low-cost airline easyJet said today that it has selected Andrew Harrison as its new chief executive officer.

The airline said that 48-year-old Harrison, who for the last five years has been a non-executive director at UK publisher Emap, would replace Ray Webster who is retiring from December 1.

Harrison joined Lex Service in 1996 as chief executive and led its transformation from a vehicle distribution company into RAC, a strongly branded services company with 6.5 million members.

Webster announced his plans to retire in May.
