Shell given new Donegal licence

Shell Ireland is to take up a new exploration licence from the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources for an area off Donegal.

Shell's partners are Eni Ireland and OMV Exploration. The new licence 2/05 covers four blocks and is located in the Rockall Trough, around 150km off the coast of Donegal.

The area is situated to the southwest of the Dooish discovery, where Shell operates on behalf of the same licence group. With this award, Shell has an interest in five exploration licences off the Irish coast.
