The Companies Registration Office is to change the price of registrating a business name from September 1.
Paper applications for the registration of a business name will rise in cost from €30 to €40, but electronic applications will fall from €30 to €20.
Notification of a change in the registered details of a company, including change in address of the principal place of business, will rise from €12 to €15. But it will still be free to electronically notify the office of a change in address of the principal place of business.
'The CRO is required to match its charges with the expenses involved in carrying out its work,' explained Paul Farrell, Companies Registrar.
'This is why we have to make these changes in our pricing. It also explains why paper based transactions are going up while electronic submissions are coming down - this reflects the cost to the CRO of processing the data in each case.'
The CRO says it is eight years since the charges for registering a business name or company details last increased.
