Stronger euro is a drag on BMW

BMW, the German maker of luxury cars, has said that the strong euro ate into its earnings in the second quarter.

Pre-tax profit was down 15% at €916m, while sales edged up 2% to €12.2 billion in the period from April to June.

Looking ahead to the full year, the car maker said it expected earnings to come out 'more or less' unchanged compared with 2004.
