Group to look at regulation costs

The Government is to set up a new business regulation group to look at  what the Taoiseach called 'regulatory and administrative burdens faced by the Irish business community'.

Speaking in Dublin, Bertie Ahern said that there was a need to deepen the dialogue between business and Government on the issue of regulation, and the administrative costs it generated.

The group, which will report to Enterprise, Trade & Employment Minister Micheal Martin, is expected to begin working by the end of September. It will have an independent chairperson, and will include senior business and public sector members. Government Departments, agencies and regulators will also be invited to participate.
