The French economy grew by 0.3% in the first quarter of 2005 from the figure for the previous quarter,
revised official data showed this morning. The official statistics institute INSEE upgraded an initial estimate of 0.2%.
Analysts said that the improved figure still meant that the French government's target of 2% growth for the year appeared difficult to achieve.
Growth in 2004 was 2.1%.
