Halfords happy with Irish stores

British store chain Halfords, which sells car parts and bicycles, says it is looking to expand in the Republic of Ireland after an 'encouraging' performance from its existing three stores.

In a statement accompanying its annual results, the company said it was seeking further sites for stores.

Halfords this morning reported pre-tax profits before exceptional items of £77.5m for the year to April, up 77% on the previous year. Turnover grew by 8.6% to £628m.
