Malcolm Glazer's takeover of Manchester United began to take effect today when the US tycoon's sons, Joel, Avram and Bryan, were appointed to the board of the English club.
The move had been expected after the family acquired a controlling 76% stake in the club last month.
Joel Glazer is expected to be actively involved in running United on behalf of his father and he could be installed as chairman after the long-serving Sir Roy Gardner stepped down from the position.
Malcolm Glazer initially seized majority control of United after buying a 28.7% stake in the club from Irish racing
millionaires JP McManus and John Magnier last month.
Man Utd's board later caved in to Glazer after agreeing to sell its minority stake to the 76-year-old owner of NFL franchise Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Minority shareholders in the Premiership team have until June 13 to accept Glazer's unconditional offer valuing the club at £790.3m sterling.
