US trade mission - New Irish deals announced today

Irish technology company Arantech has secured $10m to fund its plans for global expansion. The round of funding was announced in the US as part of the Enterprise Ireland organised Trade Mission to the US and Canada. The mission is being headed by President Mary McAleese.

Enterprise Ireland is one of the key investors in the round of funding, together with Trident Capital, Cross Atlantic Capital Partners and Oyster Investment Funds.

With the new funding, Arantech - which is involved in mobile customer experience management software - will expand into the US market with an office in Boston.

In other agreements announced today from the trade mission, Dublin-based Aircraft Management Technologies and the Lean Aerospace Initiative signed a collaborative effort to engage industry, airline and academic partners to set up the 'Lean Flight Initiative'.

Technology company Valista also said it has joined the IBM PartnerWorld Industry Networks programme to deliver on demand solutions for telecommunications customers. IBM and Valista will jointly offer payment and offer management software to wireless and fixed line carriers in North America.

Meanwhile, Acquis said that The Michael Baker Corporation has selected the company's Data Editor for the West Virginia unified geospatial mapping project.

Yesterday, Nephin Games announced a deal with the Mobile Media Company to distribute Nephin's popular WKN Kickboxing game to mobile phone users worldwide.

Ireland's Sigmar Aviation will team up with Alteon Training, a subsidiary of the Boeing Company to provide Alteon and Boeing with a range of personnel services to support airlines in start-ups, training, expansion and fleet transitions.

Dublin-based Arconics also unveiled a new management software component for the aerospace market - Manual Manger. This allows airline staff to quickly access necessary information at any time and simultaneously.

The President is accompanied by Trade Minister Michael Ahern and Enterprise Ireland CEO Frank Ryan on the trade mission. The delegation are visiting Seattle, Washington and Vancouver, British Columbia from May 23- 28.
