Credit unions have first woman chief

The Irish League of Credit Unions yesterday elected its first woman president at its biennial delegate meeting in Killarney.

Anne O'Byrne, who has been vice-president since 2003, takes over from outgoing president John O'Regan.

She will lead a new board of 13 members representing the credit union movement's 2.9 million members, North and South.
