PDs still back independent terminal

Progressive Democrats Transport Spokesman Senator Tom Morrissey has said the party's preferred option  continues to be an independent second terminal at Dublin Airport, as it represents the 'best means of delivering competition for the travelling public'.

'If private investors are willing to invest in airport infrastructure, why should the taxpayer do so instead? Let the private operators take the risk for their investment,' he said.

Senator Morrissey said that having broken the former Aer Rianta into three separate airports which could develop and compete independently, it would be a step backwards not to continue to foster competition at Dublin Airport.
