The High Court has lifted an injunction preventing the dismissal of a senior AIB executive.
The bank guaranteed that it would continue to pay Seamus Sheerin until the issue came before the courts again. The executive was dismissed following an investigation by the bank into the foreign exchange overcharging controversy.
On Friday Mr Sheerin began legal action to prevent his dismissal following the overcharging scandal. In his affidavit he claimed that some senior figures at the bank had prior knowledge of the overcharging.
In a statement issued yesterday the bank said the people named by Mr Sheerin had been cleared in an investigation supervised by the financial regulator.
