The Shelbourne Hotel have said that their Stephen's Green property may be closed for a year and a half while it undergoes a major renovation.
The plans for the refurbishment and development of the St Stephen's Green property have been finalised and will proceed shortly, with contracts to be announced in the near future.
The group said due to the extensive nature of the restorative programme, they would prefer to see the hotel closed for the duration of the refurbishment period, which is estimated at 18 months.
The management of The Shelbourne have informed employees and union representatives that the preferred option, during the restoration programme, is to close the hotel. A final decision on closure will be taken following consultation with employee and union representatives.
The group said the work will transform the 180 year old hotel and significantly improve its product offering for patrons.
