The Glen Dimplex Group has acquired LEC Refrigeration from Malaysian conglomerate Sime Darby Group for an undisclosed sum.
The deal is still subject to formal approval by the Sime Darby Group, but this is expected early next week.
LEC is one of Britain's leading domestic and technical refrigeration manufacturers. It has a turnover of €35m and is located in Bognor Regis.
'We have a track record of acquiring and rebuilding brands in the domestic appliance industry,' commented the CEO of Glen Dimplex, Sean O'Driscoll. 'The acquisition of LEC will enable us to accelerate our growth and position in the refrigeration market,' he added.
Glen Dimplex, which is headquartered in Ireland, makes electrical products for domestic and commercial use in Europe and North America. Its manufacturing operations here are located in Dunleer Co Louth, Tralee Co Kerry, Newry and Bangor in Co Down and Portadown, Co Armagh.
