Trinity campus company raises €6m

Opsona Therapeutics, a spin out from Trinity College, has completed a financing round worth €6.25m. The financing was co-led by Inventages Venture Capital (Bahamas) and Seroba BioVentures (Ireland), along with co-investors US-based Genetech and Enterprise Ireland.

Founded in March 2004, Opsona is a development stage immunology company, which it says is focused on novel therapeutic and preventative approaches to autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis.

The company has two lead drugs in advanced pre-clinical development with a target for entering one of them into initial human clinical trials by early next year.
